Artist Trust 2015 Benefit Art Auction

Our signature fundraising event of the year, the Benefit Art Auction showcases the creativity of Washington state artists of all disciplines. The Auction accounts for approximately one quarter of Artist Trust's annual fundraising, which we invest directly in Washington artists through grants, career training and professional resources. Submitting your work for possible inclusion in the Auction is a wonderful opportunity to support Artist Trust in helping artists, as well as to make your own work visible to new and seasoned art collectors. Our aim is to represent the best work created by Washington's amazing artists. Each year, a strong curatorial process is conducted by a stellar jury, made up of gallerists, collectors and artists functioning independently of the Artist Trust staff. The 2015 jury will include artist Marita Dingus, Tim Detweiler, Director of MadArt, and artist and collector Cathy Sarkowsky.

Important Dates

  • December 1, 2014 at 11:59 PM: Online submission deadline
  • December 10, 2014: Artist notifications
  • February 6 & 7, 2015: Artwork drop-off at Artist Trust (arrangements can be made for artists outside of the Seattle area)
  • February 19, 2015: Artists & Auctions workshop and happy hour
  • March 7, 2015: Auction night!

    Benefits for Donating Artists

  • One free ticket to the Auction: enjoy a marvelous seated dinner with beverages, performances, and art, with the option of purchasing a guest ticket for $100 (a 50% discount off starting ticket price) -OR- receive a 10% commission on sold art, with the option of purchasing one non-transferable artist ticket for $50 and a guest ticket for $100
  • A free Artists & Auctions workshop and happy hour with Creative Career Center Program Manager, Libby Gerber: network with other artists while learning how to market your work to new and experienced collectors during the Auction

    2014 Benefit Art Auction Highlights

  • Fund-the-Artists (our raise the paddle portion) realized over $110,000, exceeding our $100k goal
  • All live auction items sold, averaging 102% of fair market value
  • 65% of live auction items sold at or above fair market value
  • 90% of all auction items sold (3 silent sections + live), averaging 103% of fair market value

    In addition to visual art, the Benefit Art Auction will feature exclusive Art Experience packages: opportunities for behind-the-scenes arts engagement and participation such as private studio tours, classes, and performances.
